Title: 8 was a naysayer. NOT ANYMORE!
Review:  AFTER A MONTH AND A HALF OF USAGE:I wanted a new smoker but because of stupid rules of where I live, we can't have an open flame grill or smoker. I read tons of reviews between this one and others. I went with this one because it had installments on it (thanks Amazon). I'm kinda glad it worked out that way. This smoker is EASY to set up. Just follow the instructions that come with it. YES…season it first! BTW…don't use the water pan. It keeps it too moist and you don't get a smoke ring. IMPORTANT….DO NOT USE A CHEAP OR LOW END EXTENSION CORD (if you need one). This uses 1400 watts bzzt bzzt and a crappy cord will either burn up or short out. The temp control is very elementary. Just a dial. Wish it came with the digital one. The thermometer is basic but I recommend buying a separate one. The racks are VERY well made and slide very easy. I just wish it was a little wider. Ribs have to be cut in half to fit. Pretty much operate this like you would just like any other smoker. your temp and spray with liquid if it starts to dry out. Outside doesn't get too hot while smoking. which is good in case you touch it by accident. Door is nice and solid and has a good latch. The metal on the body is decent guage so as long as you take care of it and cover it when not in use….I see this lasting for years.I am very happy with this. There's a slight learning curve but once you get the hang of it, you'll be making yummies in no time. A little hint:. Put your chips in about 30-45 minutes before you put your meat in. Turn temp up ALL THE WAY with the door cracked so the chips start to smolder. Turn down heat and add ya meat.

Title: My opinion of the smoker i purchased
Review:  So to me its an ok smoker so far.Its easy to assemble a philips #2 will work.I haven't owned a larger smoker like this before id say its priced about right. It has its pros and cons. Follow the instructions season the smoker.Pros:Light weight to meEasy to useEasy to assembleIt is respectably sturdy.Water tray 3 good size grates about 13-14″ inside diameter i could fit a medium cooking sheet in there.Cons:-The assembly is kinda cheap on the inside the rivets arnt as sturdy as the should beSmoke does slowly leak from the door seal but not a massive amount as long as its not too windy.i may put a fabric fire proof seal on the door n see if that helps.-The door latch assembly is cheesy maybe a cost cut?-Needs a larger water dish-Needs a larger wood chip box for sureI burn the whole box in 3 hours thats with chips soaked for 8 hours. This makes it tough for longer smoking.-Temperature drastically drops when the door is opend for only a few seconds mabye about 8 sec? And out goes the heat- the analog door temp guage is false by 35 degrees? see my video for your own visual. I went and bought a respectable digital temp probe set from my local H.D. for 45 bucks. These are my honest findings on this product. this is my first smoker ive owned like most things the have their pros and cons id say for $200 its not bad. If i have more pros ir cons to add down the road i will be back

Title: Line your door and you'll use it more!
Review: Terrific, I bought it at a much cheaper cost than the currently listed $240 (at around 120 usd). So, wait for a sale. The door leaked and the heating element busted out. After changing the element (via Amazon using measurements) and ordering sticky thermal padding (for the door sealing) this thing has been a beast. Don't clean it alot, let the smoke create a shell inside the smoker and you'll have a magnum opus of a cheap metal/steel shell.

Title: Great electric smoker for the !
Review: The temperature can be a bit finicky to start. Once you get it at the right temp it should be good for most of your smoking session. On long hauls, it's good to check the temp around when the stall breaks, I've noticed. Mine tends to jump up about a hundred degrees after the collagen nears the end breaking down.It isn't rolling smoke out the wazoo like some of the barrel smokers, but it smokes consistently and the flavor is good. I recommend soaking your chips for an hour or so before you start smoking. It'll give you a bit more bang for your buck with smoke. All and all. This is a great smoker for someone like me who is just getting into it. I've used it a bunch of times the last few months and I love it! Just did pulled pork for Christmas and it was sublime! The removable racks and pan trays make clean up super easy.

Title: I really wanted to like this, but it fell short
Review: Liked: it was affordable. Not too intimidating for a beginner. Had a simple design.Disliked: Electronic heater/plug was defective. It was difficult to get temperature above 200 degrees and then to stay at the temperate. Manual adjustment was inconsistent, temperature was all over the place. Customer service for the manufacturer seemed non-existent. Thermometer was very inaccurate as other reviews noted.I read the reviews and knew this unit was very much entry level and required more attention than a digital controlled unit or a pellet smoker. That was fine. The unit itself to me was basically an upgraded/safer diy smoker (reminds me of the file cabinet diy units but with hopefully safer paint).Well I did have to tinker with it- a lot. The heating unit would turn off randomly and wouldn’t get to a cooking temperature. I ended up realizing that when I lifted the plug a bit, it made the unit work and it would get to temperature. I assumed this was a defect so I tried to contact the manufacturer through their website. After two tries and the heating element becoming even more finicky, I decided this was not a good unit and probably unsafe. After a week or two of no reply from the manufacturer, i said forget it and decided to send this back. I’m not happy to have to already rig this thing up and I don’t want to deal with this issue. It’s disappointing because I was so excited to have this unit.I will be looking for another unit and maybe spending a bit more for something with a digital controller or a pellet unit. I would recommend if you can afford it, to do the same.

Review: Works great! I was initially going to get the Weber Smokey Mountain but decided I would get this to try as it would make smoking easier and less time consuming. I usually smoke something every weekend and it has been great. I've done whole chickens and turkey, roasts, and drumsticks. So far everything has turned out great. My only issue is that it is hard to keep a consistent temp as it will eventually get warmer as you cook but with a bit of attention it's easy to correct. Cleanup and setup much easier than charcoal and flavor is awesome.

Review: Great smoker. We have used it a lot, even used it for a turkey at thanksgiving. However the door did come dinged up a little and the water pan catches all the grease.

Review: Good smoker. I like the electric heater. Setting the temperature takes time and patience to adjust correctly. Tenting the water and smoke containers loosely with tin foil helps with clean up.
